California, are we paying enough taxes?
That’s pretty much the heart of the issue. It is interesting when we take a look at how taxes are put into effect, and then how they are repealed. For instance, if I was to propose a tax that would take 3% on all long distance phone calls, you would ask for what purpose. I would then say, “Well, it is for this war that we are fighting.” You would then assume that when that war was over, that tax would go away. It took 108 years for government to repeal the Spanish-American War tax. The basic disconnect is that these politicians believe that your money is their money.
